Master Shelby / by Caitlin Trickett

"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for you keep." - Cinderella

You’ll never meet a more passionate spirit than Shelby Urban. She is beautiful, hilarious, caring, selfless, and now she is a Master graduating from the University.

Basically, Shelby wanted this photoshoot to say, “Oh my gosh yes, that’s so Shelby!” With that in mind we started on Campus in front of Kimpel Hall, where Shelby spent much if not all of her time as a Communications Major at the University of Arkansas. After a bit of trial and error, we finally figured out how to artfully toss her fat stack of printed articles and essays collected throughout the semester then proceeded to make sure we got photos of the papers being recycled (emphasis on the recycled part ha). While most graduates want the iconic Old Main/Greek Theater/Pi Phi Gate trifecta, Shelby opted out because “ehh it’s too far of a walk and that’s not really me, ya know?”

We then shuffled on down to MLK to take photos in one of her favorite restaurants:  Whataburger (…because Texas). Couple a #6 Whataburger Double Meat Jr. with a Mickey Mouse Ear Graduation Cap and you’ve got yourself a perfect set of photos and a lot of funny looks.

Finally, we topped the evening off with a sunset session at the 112 Drive-In Theater where Shelby showed off her perfectly painted Moana Inspired Graduation Cap and her modeling skills from her middle school days. Those setting up for the night's 8:30 feature got a little Disney sing-along a la Shelby as a pre-show #classicshelb.

Shelby leaves a wake of pure happiness everywhere she goes and that is a character attribute I will forever cherish and appreciate about her. This shoot was nothing but laughter and fun and I am so so happy to call her my friend!

Love you Shelby! Congratulations!
