The moment I've been waiting SO patiently for has finally arrived: I am a dog owner! Maybe it's crazy but I finally felt like I was at a good place to pick me out a forever friend and once I set my mind to it there was no going back.
Today I dashed out of work at 12:00 and sped over to the great state of Oklahoma to pick up my new best friend Oakland (previously Jackson) from Legacy of Hope Dog Rescue. Oakland is a terrier mix that will probably get up to about 40 lbs. [I've grown up with only Yorkies so a moderately-sized dog will be an interesting experience ha] Immediately after getting in the car Oakland peed in the back seat #ofcourse. All I'm saying is that at least he had the decency to keep his business as far out of the way as he could in that situation. After an hour and a half we finally made it to Fayetteville where I showed Oakland around his new home to which he responded by pooping on the floor, twice. So while the first day has consisted mostly of me cleaning up after this sweet precious angel I'm awful glad to have him.
Needless to say, I am beyond excited to have this little guy that I have wished, hoped, and prayed for over the past 3+ years. I had never really considered the idea of adopting a dog from a shelter but after a frustrating couple of months spent looking for a "buy" puppy I decided to give it a try and I could not be happier with my decision. I mean, look at that face!!! I am Adoption's newest fan-club member who will probably uphold her membership for a long time to come. If you are considering picking yourself up a dog someday (or cat but let's be honest..jk), try a local shelter first!
Welcome to the family Oakland! I love you so much already.
**and to answer your question: yes, of course I already did a photoshoot of my dog :)
