WEEKEND - ROME pt. 08

FRIDAY l The weekend began with an early morning visit to the beautiful Vatican City's Necropolis and St. Peter's Basilica. The view of Rome from the top of the dome was breathtaking (literally because we had to climb over 550 stairs to get to the top ha) as was the sight that was the inside of St. Peter's Basilica. I was at a loss for words when I saw the church for the first time. I mean, my goodness! Friday continued with a walk along the river and then a very delicious Mexican cuisine for dinner. Boy, do I miss Mexican food!

^ Halfway up the dome! I stopped to take a few photographs looking down onto the ground floor of the basilica. This was a great perspective!

^ Beautiful mosaics on the walls walking up to the top of the dome. So much detail!

SATURDAY l On Saturday the sun was shining so we (Cesar and I) decided to take a walk to the lovely Villa Doria Pamphili located in the middle of a very large park on the top of a very large hill in Trastevere. While we were dissapointed to find that we couldn't get onto the Villa's grounds we were just as satisfied to walk around the park. Nature is definitely something I miss seeing everyday. We picked some oranges from the trees at the front of the Villa for a little afternoon snack then headed back across the river for more walking about the city. The rain decided to stop by for a bit to say "hello" so we stopped in a cafe across from the Palazzo Farnase to have a couple of cappuccinos. Saturday was finished off with a delicious homemade plate of speghetti and Gladiator.

^ The view from the top of the stair. This weekend seemed to be a lot about "getting on top of things to have a good vantage point".

^ That's me! And behind me is the beautiful Villa Doria.

^ The gardens at the front of the Villa reminded me a lot of a scene from Alice in Wonderland or perhaps Versaille?

^ These oranges ended up being the dry, bitter type only good for making marmalade. They were so so sour but we had fun picking them.

SUNDAY l The last day of the weekend was a lazy one. I got up around 11:00 to go for a short run towards Monte Mario just north of Prati (the Tiber river has taken over the riverwalk on account of all of the rain so I had to abandon my usual running spot).  I then grabbed my roommate Caitlyn Juarez and we took a walk towards school for a photoshoot. I'm so glad I got my fix in! So fun. This shoot will get it's own post in a couple of days but here is a little sneak peak:

Thanks for taking a look!
