BELLISSIMA / by Caitlin Trickett

This post is a bit different from the others so I'm not considering it to be a part of the ROME pt. 00 series. The other day I had the opportunity to visit the MAXXI art museum designed by Zaha Hadid and let's just say that it was pretty amazing. The architecture was okay (sidenote: as an architecture student studying architecture in Rome I'm supposed to fawn over a good Hadid building but...eh), what I was most looking forward to seeing was the Bellissima Exhibition. It was so gorgeous! So well done! I definitely plan on going back to the museum to take another tour around to catch all of the exhibits I missed while bee-lining for the Valentinos and Guccis.

The "arkansas l valentino" tag at the top of the cover is my motif for this series of photos because I took images from the exhibit and underlayed them with "fashion portraits" that I took back home.  Close to a year ago I picked up Kimye's Vogue April Issue and read it all the way through. Since then I have found a "sophisticated" appreciation for fashion, more specifically fashion photography. Back home I have done a few shoots that "tread lightly" (very lightly) in the pool that is "fashion" photography and I absolutely love it! I've been itching to take portraits ever since I've touched down in Italy because..it's Italy:  the perfect backdrop for all things fashion, all things photography. I've got at least 3 willing models that I am going to take full advantage of while here and I can not wait. Here are a few of the double exposures I played around with:
